Have you ever wondered what Ireland will sound like in 2050?

Noise 2050 is a pioneering research project exploring the future of our everyday sound environment and tackling noise pollution, a growing challenge for health, wellbeing, and city life. As cities expand, transport changes, and new technologies appear, understanding and managing noise has never been more important.

Through this project, we aim to predict future noise from traffic, planes, trains, and emerging technologies like electric cars, drones, and wind turbines. We also invite everyone to take part in Ireland’s first nationwide citizen-led noise monitoring campaign, giving communities a voice in understanding their own environment. Finally, we are testing and developing innovative ways to reduce noise, providing evidence-based guidance for policies that improve everyday life.

Noise 2050 combines science, innovation, and community action to shape a healthier, quieter Ireland.
