The first national conference in Ireland dedicated to
environmental noise management, monitoring and mitigation

29 May 2026

University of Galway

The Noise 2050 team was delighted to host Ireland's first National Noise Summit at the University of Galway, marking an important milestone for environmental noise management in Ireland.

Organised by Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin and the University of Galway, the event brought together about 70 participants representing consultancy, industry, research, policy, local authorities, professional bodies and other relevant stakeholder groups, creating a unique platform to discuss the future of Ireland’s acoustic environment.

The Summit opened with a keynote address by Professor Kerstin Persson Waye (University of Gothenburg, Sweden) on the links between noise exposure, health and wellbeing throughout the life course. Hosted by Dr Eoin King (University of Galway), the programme featured expert presentations, panel discussions and interactive sessions with contributions from representatives of Transport Infrastructure Ireland, local authorities, industry, professional bodies and the Noise 2050 team.

A sincere thank you to all speakers, participants, partners and supporters who helped make this inaugural event such a success. Special thanks to NTi Audio for sponsoring the event.

We look forward to continuing the conversation and building on the momentum generated in Galway through future Noise 2050 activities.
